The river Gudenaa runs through interesting towns like Skanderborg and Silkeborg, plenty of charming villages and a big selection of possible experiences.
The Gudenaa gives you the possibility to go sailing with the world’s oldest steamer ”Hjejlen” and you can also rent canoes and enjoy the beautiful river- and lakeland.
The vast forests which are Denmark’s largest woodland area present rich possibilities for waling and mountain biking.
Furthermore the Gudenaa is known for some of the most exciting art museums with Museum Jorn in Silkeborg as a central example. In the lakelands you also find many cosy eating places both with local dishes as well as an international kitchen.
If you visit the Gudenaa area, climbing Himmelbjerget (Sky Mountain) is a must. In the 18th century the locals believed that it was the highest mountain in Europe.
